Biography

Tim Mitchell-Adams is the CEO of the Australian Scholarships Group Friendly Society Limited (ASG), a position he took up in January 2018.

His professional experience includes roles in wealth management and superannuation, with senior executive roles covering institutional superannuation, distribution, advice and key project work with both local and international organisations spanning a career of more than 30 years.

Prior to his current role, Tim was Managing Director for AMPs Charter, Ipac, Jigsaw and SMSF Advice businesses.

As a leader, Tim encourages and inspires people to set and pursue aspirational goals and supports individuals to be innovative and creative in achieving results, but always within a framework of strong values, ethics and good governance. This was clearly evident when running AMP advice business in Australia — a business that continues to be one of Australia’s largest financial planning advice businesses.

He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD), and has completed studies in leadership, marketing and distribution management.

Tim’s commitment to education and the powerful difference it can make to a child’s life, led him to the member owned organisation, ASG.  In the time since joining the business, he has instituted a mandate change for growth and supporting members. He currently oversees more than $1.4 billion in funds under management, ensures more than 90,000 member families in Australia and New Zealand are supported in their commitment to create educational opportunities for their children, and manages a passionate and high performing team of more than 200. ASG is a friendly society and the largest specialist education benefits provider in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to his role as CEO of ASG, Tim is also a director of the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, a NFP that is focused on supporting research to find a cure for juvenile brain cancer.

When not hard at work leading the team, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and playing golf.

When asked to describe his prime motivation Tim summarised by saying, “It’s all about the people. Who are part of our everyday lives, particularly in a service-oriented organisation, the key ingredient to success is being able to work with a team of engaged and inspired individuals who are all heading in the same direction.”
