Dr Samer Skaik is a Senior Lecturer of Project Management at Central Queensland University. His areas of expertise include construction project management and alternative dispute resolution with a particular focus on Statutory Adjudication. Some of his research is published in the collaborative book – International Contractual and Statutory Adjudication by Routledge, where he contributed the four Australian chapters.
Skaik received his Doctor of Philosophy from Deakin University. He also holds MSc in Construction Project Management (Distinction) and Bachelor in Civil Engineering. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and as a Member of Institute of Engineers Australia (MIEAust). He is registered as a Panel adjudicator under the Security of Payment legislation in NSW and a Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
Alongside the academic career, Skaik has a breadth of experience of leading and managing major construction projects including the fifth tallest residential building in the world.
Skaik is an active researcher and has published more than 40 papers in various domains. He won many prestigious awards and prizes in recognition of his research and teaching such as Brooking Prize Awards 2016&2017 (Society of Construction Law Australia) for the best papers and Student Voice Awards 2017 (CQUniversity) for teaching excellence.
Skaik is usually invited to deliver public lectures. He was the Chairperson of the International Construction Life-cycle Risk Management Conference 2011 in the UAE. He serves as a “Peer Reviewer” of academic manuscripts for various publishers. In 2017, he served as a ‘Friendly Reviewer’ of FIDIC Yellow Book (2017) and as a leading academic consultant for the national review of security of payment laws in Australia.
