Benefits Management (Half Day)
Realising Benefits from Projects and Programs: Problems, Causes, Solutions.
The reason organisations invest in projects, programs and portfolios of change is to realise benefits – whether in terms of reduced spend, increased revenue, some measurable contribution to a strategic objective, to reduce risk, or in response to a legal/regulatory requirement. This is of particular importance in challenging economic conditions, which demand we deliver value from every dollar spent – and yet research consistently reports that most organisations, public and private, struggle in demonstrating a return on their investments in change. Addressing this calls for a fundamentally different approach from the way we typically manage benefits – one that goes beyond backward-looking tracking against forecast and which treats benefits management as a specialism, to one that addresses the underlying causes of failure, and which engages stakeholders in an ongoing exploration of value creation. In this Masterclass, Stephen Jenner, a global authority in the field, will outline techniques, tools and practices that have been shown to work in a variety of settings, with practical real world examples that can be applied to improve your organisation’s track record of success – and make work a lot more enjoyable!
